An evening in Duong Dong can begin with dinner, a walk and a few small gifts. If you are planning to visit Phu Quoc's night market, read the updates first: the area changed in 2026, and older photographs and itineraries do not fully describe its current situation.

Why are there reports that the night market stopped operating?

On 11 January 2026, VTV reported that the contract for the business-operated market had expired and operations were allowed to continue until 28 February 2026. On 27 April 2026, Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Magazine reported the dismantling of riverside stalls; a local official explained that businesses operating inside houses continued to trade.

The reports concern different dates and parts of the area. They should not be taken to mean that every food business in Duong Dong closed, or that all the old stalls remain unchanged. Information was checked on 11 October 2026; before your trip, confirm the location and businesses currently operating.

Plan an evening around Duong Dong

Avoid making your entire dinner plan depend on a stall from an old video. Choose the area you want to explore, confirm its current map location and have a nearby restaurant as another option. When booking transport, send a specific location and agree on the return pickup point.

If you have just arrived after a flight, keep the evening short and close to your hotel. After a full day at sea or a longer excursion, move the walk to another evening if that feels better. A good meal and enough rest are more valuable than visiting every stop in the itinerary.

Choose your meal and confirm prices

Once you find a place that is serving, look at its menu before sitting down. For seafood, check whether prices are per portion or by weight, the quantity you are ordering and any cooking charges. Agree on a few shared dishes and add more later, so everyone can try different flavours without ordering too much.

With young children or older relatives, prioritise comfortable seating and a meal that can finish early. You do not need to turn the evening into a determined search for one famous restaurant.

Buy manageable gifts with someone in mind

For bottled or packaged specialities, read the labels, ask about storage and keep your receipt. Check the airline's baggage rules before buying anything that needs particular transport arrangements. A small package you will actually use often makes more sense than buying too much and struggling to pack it.

Stay near the evenings you want to enjoy

If you like dinners in Duong Dong between days exploring the coast, consider accommodation in this area. AVS is on Tran Hung Dao Street in Duong Dong. Ask the team about current dining options and transport arrangements before heading out.
